Community day

Day of the Moon

A sliding-scale, need-based community day at Moonstone.

Care, not a luxury

At Moonstone we think of bodywork and therapeutic massage as healthcare, and are passionate about helping people who might otherwise go without. Nervous system support, pain relief, and a chance to feel comfortable and safe in your body shouldn’t always have to be a luxury.

Day of the Moon is a weekly held community day here at Moonstone where we help connect higher need and lower income individuals with one of our licensed massage therapists, so they may receive care they would otherwise likely not be able to access. On this page you can apply to receive these services, or to help fund Day of the Moon. We never ask for proof of income. Choose the rate you can sustain, or apply if you need the lower tier.

All proceeds go to the therapist, or to subsidizing Tier 1 and Tier 2 clients. We accept HSA or FSA. A Letter of Medical Necessity is only partially covered by this program and costs $20. That letter is good for one year. Learn more on our HSA & FSA page.

Where you fall on the sliding scale

The Green Bottle model is to make self-care more accessible and flexible. Instead of a fixed session fee, clients choose a session rate within a set range based on their current financial situation. This approach is rooted in trust, transparency, and the understanding that financial circumstances can change over time.

  • Food, housing, or getting around is often a stretch
  • Housing is unstable, or I rent at the lower end
  • I do not always have a car or reliable transit
  • Unemployed, underemployed, or on assistance
  • Little or no savings, and extras are rare

Tier 1

Under $50

  • I usually cover basic needs, with some stress
  • Debt or medical costs still get in the way
  • Employed, in school, or on a fixed income
  • There is little left after bills
  • New things and time off take planning

Tier 2

$50–60

  • I can meet my basic needs most months
  • I have work and some access to healthcare
  • I have a little in savings, or I am rebuilding
  • A $65 session fits without skipping bills
  • Occasional extras are possible if I budget

Tier 3

$65–80

  • I can meet my basic needs comfortably
  • Debt does not block housing, food, or transit
  • I have savings and regular healthcare
  • Extras and time off are not a crisis
  • This rate helps open a reduced-rate seat

Tier 4

$80–100

Basic needs means food, housing, and transportation. Extras might mean coffee out, a movie, new clothes, books, or similar small purchases in a typical month.

FAQ

Is this program open to all?

Yes, everyone is encouraged to take part. Tier 1 and Tier 2 are reserved for those most in need, but anyone is welcome to book a Tier 3 or Tier 4 session. Those sessions directly help fund care for others in our community.

What happens after my session? Do I need to apply every session?

No need to reapply each time. After your session, we’ll build a treatment plan together based on your needs and our availability, and let you know how many more visits you qualify for.

Day of the Moon is a Moonstone community program, not a public entitlement. Instant-book rates are first come, first served. Reduced-rate seats depend on the subsidy pool funded by those bookings. Partner organizations help us reach people who need the lower tier. Prices and the community day may shift as the program settles.
